"Confucian Printing Woodblocks in Korea" was listed in Unesco's Memory of the World Register [세계기록유산] in 2015. The Confucian Printing Woodblocks were created to publish Confucian books during Joseon Dynasty(1392-1910). they comprises 64,226 hand-carved blocks used for printing 718 titles that cover everything from literature, politics and economics to philosophy and interpersonal relations.
Their importance lies partially in how they were created : Confucian scholars formed local academic communities and discussed what to publish and then handed their publications over to later generations for the communities' academic and moral development.
The "Confucian Printing Woodblocks in Korea" are all authentic original articles and they have been preserved by direct descendants of the authors.
They have been entrusted by 305 family clans and Confucian academies.
A collection of the Printing Woodblocks is preserved in Andong, Gyeongsangbuk-do Province now.
56) KBS 이산가족찾기특별생방송 기록물
The Archives of the KBS Special Live Broadcast "Finding Dispersed Families" were listed in Unesco's Memory of the World Register in 2015. It comprises 20,522 records of live broadcasts aired by the Korean Broadcasting System(KBS) from June 30th through Nov. 14th in 1983 over 138days. It holds 463 videotapes of 453 hours and 45 minutes of broadcasts, producers' notes, applications from people to participate in the program, broadcast ephemera, audiotapes, and photographs.
The whole live broadcast was recorded and the tapes of the original recordings and other materials generated in the course of broadcasting such as the posters carrying participants' stories, cue sheets, programming schedules, radio recording materials, and photos are all authentic originals that have been preserved in the KBS archives. Most of the records generated by the central government and local autonomous bodies have been preserved in the National Archives of Korea.
The moments of reunion after years of separation and the reminder of the cruelty of war were main reasons for the archives to be listed in UNESCO's Memory of the World Register.
